  "Designed by an OTR/L therapist" Head and neck edema is always a challenge because this area of the body has a high quantity of Lymph Nodes and lymph channels that are easily disrupted with head and neck surgeries and radiation. Designing garments to assist in lymph drainage of the head and neck can be as variable as there are conditions that affect this area. "The Lymphedema Problem Solvers" at JoViPak have designed a basic adjustable chin strap, in sizes –SML, which accommodates various padding options. JoViPak has also developed neck and pre and/or post auricular ready-made pads as noted below. The adjustable chin strap is made of cotton/lycra and provides a very comfortable compression to the neck and chin area. It is easily tolerated by most patients for all night use. The over the head adjustable strap and the adjustable neck strap is secured with Velcro®. An opening is created in the bottom neck seam to accommodate padding. |

  "JoViPak's Daytime Garment"
When patients discover how well the JoViPak garment softens fibrotic tissue during the night, many want to continue wearing it throughout the day. For the working patient who needs to use his or her hands, our standard JoViPak arm sleeve is sometimes too cumbersome. A logical solution seemed to be the Slimline version made with the Polartec® Powerdry® Silk-weight, the thinner fabric, and less foam making it easier to slide into the sleeves of most work clothes. JoAnn Rovig began wondering if there was a way to combine the Slimline with our nylon/spandex JoViJacket and make it more functional . . .giving the patient more freedom to move their fingers and allow them to perform their daytime tasks. | ||
  "The New Standard for Daytime Compression" The anatomical box-finger glove comes to JoViPak along with Carol L. Johnson's repertoire of ideas for innovative and effective lymphedema management devices. Prior to Carol's work in the lymphedema world, she was a burn therapist in the JayCee Burn Center, in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. As a staff therapist and specialist in garment fitting and construction for burn patients, Carol had the opportunity to develop compression garments for this specialized patient population. The now retired director of the JayCee Burn Center, Dr. H.D. Peterson, was instrumental in Carol's ability to develop this unique service in a burn center, one of two burn centers in the United States to offer garment construction and fabrication on site. When Carol's interest bloomed for treating lymphedema patients, this skill was an easy crossover and has been a valuable resource in her management practices for her patients. | ||
